E-Waste Collection Drive Launched

The Rotary Club of Mhapsa Millenials, with support from Vrecycling, launched an e-waste collection drive at Jnyan Vikas School, Porvorim. This initiative provides a responsible way for the community to dispose of old electronics.

Chief Guest Dr. Nutan Bicholkar, Chairperson of Mapusa Municipality, and Mr. Karan Govekar, a former Panch and social worker, attended the event.

President Rtn. Kanak Nachinolkar highlighted the dangers of improper e-waste disposal, which can release toxic substances like lead, mercury, and cadmium. The drive aims to prevent these harmful materials from contaminating soil and water and to recover valuable resources.

The drive collected e-waste from various localities, with Jnyan Vikas School as the central collection point, gathering two truckloads of e-waste from EthernetXpress.

Benefits to the Community:

1. Environmental Protection: Safe disposal prevents the release of toxic substances.

2. Public Health: Reduces health risks from hazardous materials.

3. Resource Recovery: Recycling helps recover valuable materials.

4. Community Engagement: Fosters collective action towards sustainability.

The Rotary Club urges everyone to support such initiatives and spread awareness about proper e-waste disposal.
